A new road map has been put together to illustrate how electric cars will be integrated into Milton Keynes.

The borough will be one of the first to welcome an infrastructure dedicated to electric vehicles after it secured funding through the government’s Plugged-in-Places scheme.

As part of the initiative, Milton Keynes Council and the Renault-Nissan Alliance are seeking to encourage the uptake of eco-friendly models.

David Hill, Milton Keynes Council’s chief executive, commented: "We have always been a pioneer for green technologies and initiatives, and this agreement is yet another positive step for Milton Keynes as a showcase low-carbon city."

Among the plans which will be implemented under the scheme are that 430 vehicle recharging points are put in place.

A number of recently-announced government incentives have made the UK a more attractive location in which to invest in renewable energy projects, according to Ernst & Young’s latest global Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Indices.ADNFCR-3009-ID-19738664-ADNFCR
