Check vehicle history, car salvage buyers advised

Buyers looking to pick up a new purchase from a car salvage auction should ensure they check the vehicle’s history, an expert has claimed.

The JohnnyKnows.com blog has highlighted the importance of people checking that they have the full details of a car before bidding on it.

Among the ways people can achieve this are by putting in a request with a car history company or by asking for a full and accurate history when purchasing the vehicle.

The blog suggested getting a mechanic to check over a newly-acquired car if there are any concerns about its quality, as this will likely lead to problems being flagged up early.

Last month, Used Car Expert magazine advised owners acquiring a vehicle through a car salvage auction to ensure that any components that have been subject to a recall have been highlighted before resale.

It noted the importance of the fact that a small number of those parts subject to a recall of this type are never taken in for repair, emphasising the value of checking this has taken place when buying a used car.ADNFCR-3009-ID-19664918-ADNFCR

I hope that Bluecycle does not go down the the same ‘highway’ as our America invaders. This growing company offers a huge selection of salvage some of which is not what it seems. Having recently bought an older lightly damaged cat D Seat which only required a door and some paint work , I was annoyed to find that the engine was scrap and had obviously been swapped and the vehicle privately entered into the patented technological wonder auction to get rid ! This all conquering company does not distinguish between proper insurance salvage and privately entered rubbish and when your veiwing the vehicles online it is impossible to tell the difference. Now don’t get me wrong, I’ve been buying and repairing salvage for 30 years and have repaired over 1000 cars from Fiestas to Ferraris and I know that you risk buying cars that have damage that you did not foresee and you have to be prepared to get over that and enjoy the challenge ! ,but you need a fair chance when buying online and it starts with the seller who should decribe the car, and it’s source correctly, and they should be prepared to discuss the matter and not be completely uninterested.
So Bluecycle, please don’t mix up your nice fresh salvage with a load of cast off’s from any old where!
