Great news!

We’re delighted to announce the launch of two new fantastic services today.

Discounted parts from Euro Car Parts

We’ve teamed up with Euro Car Parts, the largest parts distributor in the UK. Simply click on the link on the Bluecycle Home page, Parts page or Latest Auctions page through to Euro Car Parts to benefit from discounts on parts for all makes and models.

Competitive logistics services from uShip

Following several requests from customers asking Bluecycle to offer a logistics service, we’ve reviewed the market and joined forces with uShip.

The very successful online transport marketplace, connects people with customer-reviewed delivery companies that can move items including cars, motorcycles and heavy equipment. Transporters place competing quotes to win a customer’s business, which brings down delivery costs and makes transport more affordable and efficient.

For further information or a quote, click on the Deliveries tab in the Bluecycle menu bar and follow the steps.

New service for BC customers

Posted in category Uncategorized

We are delighted to offer a new multi-level selling model to all our customers, which will enable them to sell and dispose of vehicles on Bluecycle.

Do you hold a Motor Salvage Operators (MSO) licence?

If yes, you could qualify for a Sales Account to sell recorded salvage on Bluecycle. If you don’t, they can be gained with relative ease from your local council.  However, for non-salvage and unrecorded vehicles you don’t require one at all.

To find out more about becoming a seller, please contact Greg Hutley on 0207 019 5761 or email sales@bluecycle.com.

Don’t own a Motor Salvage Operators licence or only have ad-hoc vehicles to sell?

If you don’t hold an MSO licence or just a have a few ad-hoc vehicles to sell, you can still sell through Bluecycle via one of our contractors’ yards, either by delivering the vehicle yourself or we can arrange to have it collected.

Once the vehicle has arrived at a yard and we have agreed the reserve price, we will arrange to complete an inspection and upload the vehicle to auction.

The cost of this service is as follows:

• Customer to deliver to the yard: £50 plus VAT
• Collection by Bluecycle contractor: £120 plus VAT

Please contact Greg Hutley on 0207 019 5761 or email sales@bluecycle.com for more information.

Scrap Vehicles

If you have vehicles which are classed as “end of life”, Bluecycle can facilitate the sale of these via our licensed contractors.

Once we have collected the vehicle and it’s arrived on site, we will issue a Certificate of Destruction (COD) using our secure online link to the DVLA vehicle registration database. A copy of the certificate will then be forwarded to yourself for your records.

For further information and a quote, please contact Greg Hutley on 0207 019 5761 or email sales@bluecycle.com.

The history of the car is limited but it has been raced at Goodwood by Win Percy and was rebuilt by Nigel Webb, a Jaguar racer and builder who also owns the Mike Hawthorn Memorial museum.

It was sent to Morocco after it’s build in 1953, although it’s unknown if it was raced in the Moroccan GP.

The car has been converted from “race” mode to road going “rally”, has made at least one trip to Spain and has been featured on British and Spanish TV including Sky’s “The Garage”.

See www.bluecycle.com for more information.

Steer-by-wire

The future can best be summed up in a quote by the academic John M. Richardson, “when it comes to the future, there are three kinds of people: those who let it happen, those who make it happen, and those who wonder what happened.”

The future is also inevitable and nowhere is this more apparent than in the field of technology, and car technology in particular. The fundamentals of car technology has not really changed in the last one hundred years especially when you compare it to airplanes or even the humble telephone or even just catching up to the digital age in general. There may be a dock for your iPhone and Blu-ray in the back for the kids, but the internal combustion engine has changed little since Edward Butler discovered it ran pretty well on petrol all those years ago.

Now it looks like things are about to change. Japanese car maker Nissan has tested and fully intends to implement replacing the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and wheels with an electronic one. Steer-by-wire as it is being called fully intends to make accidents obsolete. This of course would have a huge impact on the car salvage industry as fewer cars would come to auction. At the Nissan test center in Oppama, Japan the company have successfully tested technology that allows cars to avoid hitting pedestrians. The car can detect someone suddenly appearing in the way of the vehicle then automatically turns the car into the safest part of the road to avoid any collision. Assisted breaking has been in the works for a while but this system takes it one further by also affecting the steering. Independent control steering technology and their crash avoidance systems are being touted as being in place by as early as next year.

Technology is now allowing radar and other sensors to be positioned in the car that previously would have been impossible due to size or cost restrictions, all of which is going to change the way people drive. Steer-by-wire will remove the need for the driver to make lots of tiny adjustments whilst driving so should eliminate fatigue as it will be done automatically, in fact almost every aspect of interaction between the driver and the vehicle can be done away with.
